Let's talk about death. Join Mia van Leeuwen as part of an interactive experience that contemplates the themes of death, loss, impermanence, grief, and ... ghosts! Mia will share a presentation on the How to Raise a Ghost project and facilitate a community dialogue via prompts collected as part of her research and practice.
Mia van Leeuwen is an artist and associate professor in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lethbridge where she teaches studio courses in performance. Unsettling, juxtaposing, re-mixing, queering, winking, collaborating, guiding, and making strange are some of the actions that inform the devising of her various projects. Currently, she is an organizing member and co-producer of the upcoming Waking Death: Arts & Culture Event Series to take place in Lethbridge this Fall 2023 thanks to the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts, Casa Arts Centre, Allied Arts Council, City of Lethbridge, and the University of Lethbridge.
