Monotype: The Painterly Print
In this course participants will explore both watercolour and oil-based monotypes, lift print, chine collé and layering techniques. Students will receive individual attention regarding drawing, painting, and composition and learn to print using a manual press. Along with technique students are introduced to different papers, materials and the experience for expression while exploring colour, form and line. There will be discussion and class critiques throughout.
Heather Aston grew up in West Vancouver, BC and graduated with Printmaking Honours from The Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University). She is a Canada council and Helen Pitt Scholarship recipient. When studying in Florence, Italy in 1990, she started making monotypes, which has been the main focus of her print work in the last 27 years. Heather is a printmaker, a painter and art instructor teaching part time In schools, art institutes and private studios. Her work is exhibited regularly in galleries in several Canadian provinces and is represented in numerous collections throughout the world.
Tuition $735 includes lunch and break refreshments.
